On a humid Autumn day in the middle of Regents park Finchley found it hard to get a foot hold in this game. Some good early defense kept the home team at bay but Belsize Park were able to go into half time leading 22-5, Finchley's only score coming from a well worked move down the left wing with Inigo Saxon Stone finishing in the corner.
Unfortunately due to injuries the 2nd half did not improve for Finchley who played most of the half with 14 men. Although the result was not what Finchley want after a good start last week there were some positives to take from the game. The defensive commitment shown by all players was admirable and the Finchley scrum was on top all of the game, despite being down to 7 men in the scrum for most of the 2nd half.
Special mention must go to Taylor Temperton who dominated his opposite number all day, Jon Ferriday for another gutsy performance and especially for Chris Kent who did not stop working all day and rightly deserved the Man of the Match Award.
Final score 42-5
All 18 did not stop but if Finchley want to push on for promotion this year the reaction to this set back is key. Wasps visit Summers lane on the 27th Sep and Finchley will be looking to bounce back in style.
