The marquee has been packed away, the beer-soaked clubhouse floor has been mopped and cleaned, hangovers have cleared and the accounts for the Finchley Rugby Club Ball are nearly signed off. We are happy to report that the Ball managed to raise almost £15,000 towards the Finchley 100 Centenary Appeal. This will go a long way towards building the gym, renovating the back bar and improving the changing facilities for the women and girl’s teams.
Thank you to everyone who supported the event - whether as guests, sponsors, donors, volunteers or members of staff. Your generosity, patience and (mostly) good behaviour made the event the most successful in the Club's recent past.
The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with everyone enjoying the opportunity of sharing a few drinks with old and new friends, dancing their socks off to a great band (and late-night DJ crew) and celebrating the Club's first 100 years in magnificent style.
Congratulations to all those who won prizes or secured lots in the auction.
Remember, our Centenary continues until the end of the current calendar year. We are planning further events to mark the celebrations including fireworks at the club, a formal lunch in London in November and something around Christmas to celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the club on December 21st 1925 and of our first rugby match, 5 days later, on Boxing Day.
We look forward to seeing you at these and other social events that will be taking place at the Club.
