Next week Romford and the Phoenix lock horns again in the reverse fixture!

This result keeps Finchley in 2nd Place but closing the gap on leaders Cheshunt.

Sunday 15th March RFU Women Section NC2 South East North.

This re-arranged fixture was brought forward to 12 noon due to Mothering Sunday.

There was a 1 Minute Silence requested by Romford due to one of their players suffering a family bereavement.

Finchley began the game trying to dictate play. On 12 minutes a Finchley backs move went to Taylor Carey who opened the scoring to right of posts. 5 - 0.

On 22 minutes a Romford Scrum on their own 5 Metre line was hooked against the head and picked up by No 8 Keira Blake - Lightbody to score under the posts. 10 - 0. This gave Bailley Oosthuizen the easiest of Conversions 12 - 0. Romford then took possession into the Finchley half but were unable to get past a resolute Home Defence.

On 37 minutes following a Finchley Lineout on the left, Finchley Forwards put in some good attacking play and Lara Corner was on hand to score a Try to make the score 17 - 0. From the restart Finchley were sent on their way by a good take from Forward of Match Grace Hunter, combined together with a good backs move on 39 minutes allowing back of the match Ruby Glynn to score to make the half-time score 22 - 0.

As the 2nd half started, no side managed to capitalize on possession until the 51st minute when Romford put together a move from a penalty on the Finchley 10 Metre line, debutant Scarlett Coldwell went over for Romford’s 1st Try to left of the posts 22 - 5.

Finchley decided from the restart to take back control and after some good play by Taylor Carey in keeping possession, the ball was shipped out wide to the left-hand side where Bailley Oosthuizen was on hand to score on 60 minutes. 27 - 5.

On 65 minutes a Finchley attack resulted in Taylor Carey going over under the posts. Bailley Oosthuizen converted on 66 minutes, making the score 34 - 5.
Romford were not prepared to give up and a deserved Try on 78 minutes was scored by Izzy McCarthy to make the full-time score 34 - 10.
