Finchley RFC proudly celebrated a special milestone this weekend as the club’s new Centenary Gym — the first of five Centenary Projects — was officially opened by former England World Cup winning Red Rose, Kelsey Clifford.
Kelsey’s visit made the occasion particularly meaningful for the club. Before representing England at the highest level, she began her rugby journey at Finchley RFC, progressing through the club’s Mini and Youth section before going on to achieve international success. Returning to open the gym was a fitting way to celebrate both Finchley’s proud history and its investment in the next generation of players.
The opening was enthusiastically supported by a large group of Finchley Minis, parents, and club members, who gathered to mark the occasion. The young players, proudly wearing their Finchley hoops, gave Kelsey a warm welcome and helped create a fantastic atmosphere for the official opening.
The new Centenary Gym will play a key role in supporting the development of players across the club — from Minis and Youth to senior men’s and women’s teams — providing improved training and conditioning facilities as part of Finchley RFC’s 100th year celebrations.
This project marks the first of five Centenary initiatives designed to strengthen the club’s facilities and ensure Finchley RFC continues to thrive for the next generation of players and families.
It was a wonderful moment for the club, celebrating Finchley’s past, present and future — with one of our own returning to inspire the next generation.
