Finchley RFC Vets made a winning start in the Middlesex County Vets Cup, beating Hammersmith & Fulham Vets 21–0 at Summers Lane on Friday 30 October.

A fiercely contested match under the floodlights made for a special atmosphere and a memorable occasion. Finchley found the way to the try line three times, with Matt Hastings, Sam Haslam and Lloyd all scoring. Sam converted each try to complete a fine 21-point tally.

Sean Linden was named Man of the Match for an outstanding performance.

There was also a warm welcome back to Jamie Lynch, returning to the club and making his Vets debut. Dave Hetherington, Gregg Cruder, Simon Hosking and Matt Wilke also made their Vets debuts.
