Garnet Edwards

George Loureda22 Apr - 07:00

Our deepest condolences go out to Garnet’s family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

It is with a heavy heart that I share the very sad news of the passing of Garnet Edwards – a true legend and stalwart of Finchley RFC.

Joining the Club in 1968 he immediately became a 1st XV regular and captained the Club in 1970. During his time with Finchley he became Club coach, founded the Mini and Youth section and was President from 1993-1995. He was an instrumental and inspirational figure in all those roles, which no one else has ever achieved.

Garnet gave so much to the club over the years – his time, his energy, and above all, his passion. Whether on the pitch, on the side-lines, behind the scenes, or simply sharing good times in the clubhouse, he embodied everything that Finchley stands for.

His commitment, humour, knowledge, unwavering support, and love of the game helped shape the future of the club and he will be sorely missed.

Our deepest condolences go out to Garnet’s family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy will live on in every aspect of Finchley RFC.

Rest in peace, Garnet.
