Match Report – U6/U7/U8s Away at Enfield Ignatians

George Loureda23 Nov - 17:15

A special mention to Enfield Ignatians for hosting a warm and well-organised morning.

It was great to see so many families there so early, supporting the kids and creating that big, friendly atmosphere that makes Sundays feel special.

This morning started with the kind of rain that usually puts kids (and parents!) off before they’ve even left the house. But, true to the spirit we’ve seen over the last three or four weeks, the players showed up in brilliant numbers and with the same enthusiasm that’s been building through our recent sessions. By the time everyone arrived, the timing was perfect — the rain eased, the pitches opened up, and suddenly we had a brilliant morning of rugby ahead of us.

It was great to see so many families there so early, supporting the kids and creating that big, friendly atmosphere that makes Sundays feel special. Over the last month our attendance has been consistently strong, and today carried that same energy. In fact, we brought more players than Enfield, even though it was their home fixture — a real sign of how much momentum the children have at the moment.

Across all age groups — U6, U7 and U8 — the games were exactly the kind of rugby we want to encourage. Lots of running, lots of involvement, and plenty of smiles. The kids showed a massive improvement in their understanding of space, tagging, supporting runners, and keeping the ball alive. For the U8s especially, it was one of the most positive mornings of rugby we’ve had this season. What stood out most was the respect shown: to the referees, to the opposition coaches, and to each other. You could see real listening, real encouragement, and proper teamwork developing.

The games were competitive but fair, busy but enjoyable, and full of those little moments where everything we’ve been coaching starts to click. It’s exactly why we focus on variety, fun and good habits at training — and today the kids brought all of that with them.

A special mention to Enfield Ignatians for hosting a warm and well-organised morning. Their coaches created a relaxed and friendly environment, the pitches held up well despite the early rain, and the hot dogs afterwards genuinely hit the spot for players and parents alike.

Most importantly, everyone went home happy, safe and tired in the best possible way. That’s always the win.

And now the excitement continues: next week we head to the StoneX Stadium, where our minis amazingly get to play on the main pitch before the Saracens v Bath match. It’s an unbelievable opportunity for the kids, and today’s performance shows they’re more than ready for it.
