Welcome to Finchley RFC Under 6s

The Under 6s is where many children begin their rugby journey at Finchley RFC.

Our sessions are built around fun, movement, confidence and making new friends. We introduce children to rugby through exciting games and activities that develop balance, coordination, teamwork and basic rugby skills in a safe and supportive environment.

No experience is needed at all — many of our players are trying rugby for the very first time.

Whether your child is full of energy, a little shy, or simply looking to try something new, we aim to make every Sunday enjoyable and welcoming for both children and parents.

What We Focus On

At Under 6 level, the focus is very much on:

Fun and enjoyment
Team games and confidence building
Running with the ball
Passing and teamwork
Agility, balance and coordination
Listening and communication
Making friends and learning rugby values

Sessions are designed to keep children active, smiling and engaged throughout.

New Players Always Welcome

We welcome all children in Reception and Year 1, whether they have played rugby before or not.

You are very welcome to come along and try a session before deciding to join.

Sundays

9:30am – 11:00am
Finchley RFC
Summers Lane, North Finchley, London

Please arrive a little early for your first session so we can welcome you properly.

What Does My Child Need?

For the first few sessions, children simply need:

Comfortable sports clothing
Trainers or boots
A drink bottle
Warm/waterproof layers in colder weather
A big smile and lots of energy!

Mouthguards are not required at Under 6 level.

One Club Culture

Finchley RFC is a genuine family club with rugby for all ages, from minis through to senior rugby and vets.

Many of our older players started their rugby journey in the minis section, and we are proud of the welcoming community atmosphere that makes the club such a special place on Sunday mornings.
