Finchley Rugby Club is delighted to confirm that the installation of our new solar-panel and battery-storage system has now been completed.

Solar panels have been installed by our club partner Modified Solar across the clubhouse roof, supported by a substantial battery-storage system and new inverter equipment. The panels will generate clean, renewable electricity during daylight hours, while surplus energy can be stored in the batteries for use when the clubhouse needs it most.

This major investment will help the club to:
• Reduce the amount of electricity purchased from the National Grid.
• Save thousands of pounds on energy bills each year.
• Make better use of the electricity generated throughout the day.
• Reduce the club’s carbon footprint.
• Protect the club against rising energy costs.
• Invest more of our resources in rugby, facilities and our local community.

The project has been fully funded through grant support from Barnet Council. We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to the Council for making this important environmental and financial investment possible.

As a busy community sports club operating throughout the week, our clubhouse uses a significant amount of electricity. Reducing these running costs is therefore essential to the club’s long-term sustainability.

The battery system is an especially important part of the project. It allows electricity produced by the solar panels to be stored and used later—including during busy evenings and weekends—rather than allowing valuable renewable energy to go unused.

The installation represents another major step in the continuing improvement of our clubhouse and facilities. It reflects our commitment to running Finchley RFC responsibly, reducing our environmental impact and creating a stronger, more sustainable club for future generations.
